Time-frequency domain motion responses of moored floater under freak wave

摘要:Pan (2018) indicated that the freak wave has a significant impact on the time-frequency domain characteristics of the motion responses of a floater. In the present study, extensive investigations have been performed to figure out the characteristics of motion responses of a moored square cylinder under freak wave in time-frequency domain. The results show that the wavelet analysis method is more effective than statistical or spectral analysis method in investigating the motion responses of the floater under freak and random waves. Followed the occurrence of freak wave, the surge increases sharply and oscillates for 20~30 wave periods in low frequency. The duration of the surge in low frequency under freak wave is related to the wave period, which will be significantly reduced when the wave period is large. There is a significant variation in the generalized energy spectrum E(t) of the motion responses under freak and random waves. The energy parameters ��E of surge, heave and pitch under freak wave are1.07~2.48, 1.05~1.88, 0.54~1.65 times of those under random wave. The duration for dozens wave periods of the motion response in low frequency under freak wave can be regarded as the important difference from random wave. ? 2019 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).
