Abstract:Line-heating process is a main method to form the double curvature hull plate, it can be considered as the inverse process of the hull plate surface development,moreover, the processing pa-rameter can be determined by calculating deformation degrees generated by the plate surface devel-opment.In this paper, a new method for development of hull plate surface based on its quasi-rulings is presented.According to the property of the offset surface,one method analyzes the angular distor-tion of the plate surface development.The plate surface is adaptively segmented based on its quasi-rulings, and the transverse shrinkage of the plate is calculated. As an application the method is ap-plied to the experiments of hull plate surface. The numerical results show the efficiency of this method, which consider the transverse shrinkage and the angular distortion at the same time.
