Abstract:Underwater high-current pulse discharge results in a highly conductive plasma channel between the electrodes. Due to the ultrashort discharge duration and the complicated physical or chemical process, it is very difficult to research on the discharge channel and hydrodynamics characteristics. In this paper the dynamic process of the discharge channel was described by means of Kirchhoff equation and hydrodynamic equations. A new model was developed to reveal the characteristics of the channel resistance, the radius of plasma discharge channel, the circuit current and the pressure pulse amplitude. The corresponding calculation results from this new developed model were compared with experimental data. The results show that the calculated parameters are in accordance with the experimental data, and the developed model can be used for the estimation of the characteristic of underwater pulse discharge. ? 2009 Chin.
