Abstract:A new pillar-layered 3D open framework, {[(ala)(2)Cu](2)[Cr(OH)(6)Mo6O18]} {[(H2O)(2)Na](2)[Cr(OH)(6)Mo6O1]} center dot 23.5H(2)O (1) (ala = alanine) has been synthesized and characterized for the first time. Compound 1 is constructed from the hybrid two-dimensional cationic layers {[(ala)(2)Cu](2)[Cr(OH)(6)Mo6O18]}(+), and anionic bi-supporting {[(H2O)(2)Na](2)[Cr(OH)(6)Mo6O18]}(-) clusters as pillars to form a 3D channel framework. Furthermore, magnetic measurements show weak ferromagnetic interactions for compound 1. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
