Profile

Yao CUI obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree of Civil Engineering, at Tsinghua University, China in 2004 and 2006, respectively. She defended her MEXT-funded PhD research on “Development of joint systems using SFRCC for enhanced seismic performance of steel structures” at Kyoto University in 2009. From 2009 until 2012, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI), Kyoto University and the Urban Disaster Prevention Research Core, the Laboratory for Future Interdisciplinary Research of Science and Technology (FIRST) of Tokyo Institute of Technology. From 2012, she is appointed as an associate professor at the School of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Infrastructure Engineering, Dalian University of Technology.

Yao CUI has experience and international impact in the research field of seismic performance and resilience design of key joints and novel resilient systems in steel and composite structures. She is an expert in advanced experimental study and numerical simulations, such as Hybrid Test and Sophisticated Finite Element Modelling techniques. Additionally, she conducts cross study of Artificial Intelligence – aided seismic resilience assessment and design.
