Abstract:Glass Trestle has been widely used as a new landscape facility in recent years, and the laminated glass is the most direct load-bearing component which is exposed to extreme weather conditions and external loads. These factors can lead to glass damage and increase the risk of failure of the glass trestle. In order to evaluate the safety of the glass trestle, this paper proposes a method of strain monitoring for the laminated glass by using the FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating) sensing technology. The location of measuring points of the FBG sensor and the feasibility of the strain measurement for the laminated glass were studied by the FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and model test. Test results show that the FBG sensor can effectively obtain strain of the laminated glass and be suitable for the safety monitoring of the glass trestle.
