Dr An is an associate professor and Xinghai Excellent Young Researcher in Dalian University of Technology, China. He is a joint PhD of Dalian University of Technology (China) and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (US) and obtained his PhD degree from Dalian University of Technology in December 2013.

His research interests include structural damage diagnosis, structural health monitoring and structural performance assessment. He has 40 papers, in which 19 journal papers are/will be indexed by SCI; one paper is selected as the 4th of 5 'Most cited papers 2012-2013' of Structural Control and Health Monitoring. He has been serving as a regular article reviewer for 16 international journals. He has been authorized 3 invention patents and 2 utility patents as the first inventor. He has 2 computer software copyrights. He has been selected in Liaoning Province BaiQianWan Talents Program and the Xinghai Scholar Talent Development Plan Program of DUT; he is a committee member of Youth Committee for Structural Vibration Control and Health Monitoring of Chinese Society For Vibration Engineering.
