摘要：A thermo-mechanical FE model to describe the physical phenomena of the direct chill casting process for magnesium alloys has been developed. The evolution of temperatures, stresses and strains inside the billet was investigated. The effects of casting parameters and casting facilities, such as casting speed, flow rate of cooling water and mould length were also studied. Residual strain measurements were carried out by using Neutron Diffraction. Residual strain measured on the as-cast billet provides the data necessary to validate this thermo-mechanical model, and contributes directly to observation of the stress/strain state in the billet. The hot tearing susceptibility was also evaluated based on a pressure-based hot tearing criterion.
