Profile
Dr. Guandong Su is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environment and Food, School of Chemical Engineering, Ocean, and Life Sciences, Dalian University of Technology. He received his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from National University of Singapore and B.Eng. in Petroleum Engineering from China University of Petroleum-Beijing in 2024 and 2018, respectively.
Dr. Su’s research interests lie in the interface of energy and environment, who devotes his interdisciplinary research to advancing sustainable development goals with an emphasis on Goal 7 — affordable and clean energy, which involves sectors of oil & gas, chemicals, food, agriculture, environment, biotechnology, and education. Dr. Su has generated more than 20 peer-reviewed publications both in Chinese and English by December 2024. His publications have been cited approximately 400 times with an h-index of 13 and i10-index of 14, based on Google Scholar. Among the publications, the papers published in Renewable Energy highlight the impact of his work. He was also Guest Editor of Energies and Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, and a member of the First Round of Youth Editorial Board for a Chinese journal, Natural Gas Industry.

Dr. Guandong Su is accepting international students for intake of September 2025 to be admitted to Master Programs of Dalian University of Technology, one of the best public universities in China with a ranking of 292 and 448 respectively by US News and QS, famous for its Engineering subjects and reputed as one of the Four Leading Engineering Universities in China. 1. Bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) and solid waste valorization (e.g., value-added biochemicals and biofuels from agricultural forestry and food waste recycling, fine food waste management, and acetone-butanol-ethanol co-fermentation)
2. Green and low-carbon oil and gas fields (e.g., oily sludge reduction, waste drilling fluid treatment, green oilfield chemistry, carbon neutrality and environmental sustainability of onshore and offshore oil & gas fields)
3. Bilingual engineering and energy education (e.g., computer-aided education, innovation-oriented education, artificial intelligence-enhanced education)
4. Energy policy and circular economy (e.g. techno-economic analysis, life cycle analysis, big data analysis)
