Abstract:The steel bucket foundation platform is an important engineering design for small-scale oil/gas field developments due to its economic and structural characteristics. Severe ice-induced vibrations were observed during an ice sheet interaction with the fixed ice-breaking cone of JZ9-3WHPB platform in the Bohai Sea, China. The steel pillar was replaced by a concrete pillar in order to reduce the ice-induced vibrations for JZ9-3WHPB platform. A good comparison was obtained between the calculated and full-scale observation data; the numerical results show that ice-induced vibrations could be reduced effectively for JZ9-3WHPB platform with concrete pillar. ? 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
