Abstract:Drill point geometry is extremely sensitive to the grinder settings. The simplified conical drill point grinding method is a special case of straight lipped conical grinding method, but numerical simulation analyses have shown that the standard drill point features can be approximately achieved when the grinder is properly set. Geometrical similarity design, multi-objects optimization and fuzzy decision-making strategies have been introduced in this paper, and the optimized grinder settings for a whole range of drills have been obtained and numerically verified.
