Abstract:This paper analyzes the position and role of Flexible Manufacturing System(FMS) in advanced manufacturing ifeld and points out that the construction of open practice teaching system of FMS is a best choice to advance the practice ability of the students studied in mechanical engineering major in universities. A construction idea of open practice teaching system of FMS based on Alone Manufacturing Island (AMI) concept is proposed, the system composition, realization, features and functions are introduced, the role of this system in future practice teaching is predicted.
