Abstract: In this paper, a time-resolved study on the evolution process of the plasma channels in an atmospheric pressure plasma jet is performed by using a high-speed camera system and synchronous current-voltage measurement. We have succeeded in observing the plasma channels turn up at the same time, and propagate at the speed of about 4 x 10(3) m/s in the air. Once pattern formation is done, discharge channels are fixed at the same locations, even when the polarity of the applied voltage changes.
