Abstract:The comparison of DNA sequences has been a hot spot in the field of bioinformatics for a long time. Based on digital signal method, we outline a new representation of DNA sequences. Our method provides a transformation from the original sequence to its mathematical representation without loss of information. We take the first exon of beta- globin gene of 13 different species as samples to test our method. Afterwards, we show the distance matrix of the 13 species and illustrate the utility of this scheme by contrasting our result with what other papers have reported before. It is proved that our method is effective and reasonable to measure the similarity/ dissimilarity of different species.
