Abstract:By analyzing ecological footprint of resource consumed by port and waste, and considering the effect on environment of vessels, the EEF model (emergy-ecological footprint) for ecological evaluation of sea port has been built up based on emergy theory. Port ecological capacity was made up of the accounts of natural resources and the virtual accounts of port economic development. The ecological footprint and carrying capacity of a Northern Chi-na port from 2009 to 2014 was calculated. The ecological capacity index remained above 1 each year, which led to unsustainable port ecology. The energy ecological footprint and the pollution ecological footprint was main source of ecological footprint. The virtual accounts of port economic development contribute more for port ecological capacity, which avoided the growth of ecological deficit effectively.
