Abstract:Field-controlled electro-chemical honing (ECH) is a brand new machining method initiated by our research group. The relative motion between cathode and workpiece is performed by the machine tool so that the electro-chemical dissolution spot is scanning over the surface to be machined. Based on the error at different points of the workpiece surface, the computer is controlling the EC dissolution voltage in real time, hence the rate of metal removal is varying during the scanning, and a required geometry is then obtained. This paper is largely studying the diameter variation law of cylindrical workpieces in the process of FCECH and its application to the workpieces with a cambering roller shape.
