Abstract: Controlling membrane fouling: An electrocatalytic reactor with a TiO 2/C membrane that functions both as filter and anode was designed for industrial wastewater treatment. During wastewater treatment, the TiO 2/C membrane generates microflows that alleviate concentration polarization and reactive intermediates that decompose organic foulants on the membrane surface or in pores into CO2 and H2O or small biodegradable products (see picture). © 2011 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
