Experimental study on acceleration mechanism of flame and pressure wave during flammable gas cloud deflagration

摘要:The variation of the gas cloud deflagration characteristics caused by the built-in obstacles was studied experimentally with semispherical acetylene-air clouds with a volume ratio of 7.8% in a 2000 m(3) experimental base. An ignition electrode that met ISO6184 "Explosion Protection System" and NFPA68 "Guide For Venting of Deflagrations" ignited the cloud at the center of the sphere. The deflagration pressure of the gas mixture was recorded by a data-acquisition system, with dynamic responding time less than 0.001s. A high-speed video camera recorded the flame behavior. The built-in semispherical barriers with multi-holes were concentric with the clouds, the size of which was adjusted in the experiments. It is clear from the records of deflagration process that the flame propagates in sphere initially and gets bent and folded when meeting the barriers. The experimental results show that the deflagration pressure increases with the increase of barrier radius and the number of barriers. The deflagration pressure also increases with the reduction of ratio between the hole area and sphere area.
