Abstract:Hydrophilic single and double layer dynamic membranes (DMs) were prepared and applied to cross-flow microfiltration of oil-in-water emulsion. Tubular porous ceramic membrane was used as the substrate. Kaolin and zir-conium dioxide (ZrO2) particles were selected as coating materials. The separation effects of the single and double layer dynamic membrane on oil-in-water emulsion were analyzed. The influence law of the preparation and separation conditions of double layer dynamic membrane on separation performance were investigated.Experimental results show that the prepared double layer DM has a looser internal layer and a denser external layer. Oil rejection rate and COD removal rate can reach 99.7% and 99.5% respectively, which aresuperior to those with single layer DMs. The smaller the pH of oil-in-water emulsion is, the higher the permeation flux is. With increases in the ZrO2 coating time and the trans-membrane pressure difference, the permeation flux first increases, and then decreases. The lower the oil-in-water emulsion mass concentration is, the greater the permeation flux is.
