Abstract: Based on the metallurgical principles of hot working process, a two-dimensional cellular automata model for the dynamic recrystallization (DRX) was built up to simulate a series of processes such as the work hardening, dynamic recovery, nucleation and growth of recrystallization grains (R-grains). By using the model, the variations of the flow stress, the morphology, orientation, and size of R-grains during the whole hot working process can be obtained. The flow stress can be calculated from the average dislocation densities in the matrix and the R-grains. The DRX processes of pure copper under different strains, strain rates, and temperatures were simulated, and the simulated results agree well with experimental results.
