Abstract:The contact heat transfer between 7050 aluminum alloy and 5CrMnMo die steel was investigated using a transient method in the experiments. The effects of contact pressure and temperature of the die on contact heat transfer coefficient were discussed, and the experimental results of transient and steady state method were also compared. The research results indicate that the contact heat transfer coefficient increases rapidly to a level with the increasing time. The heat transfer coefficient according to the transient and steady state method increases with the increase of the contact pressure. The heat transfer coefficient in the transient condition also increases with the increasing temperature of the die in the range of 160 - 340 °C, and these results provide some references for preheating of the die.
