Abstract:Cu-water nanofluids was applied in the cooling system of the combustion engine and the commercial CFD software STAR-CD was employed to perform the 3-D numerical simulation of the cooling system of engine with different concentration of nanofluids. The flow field, the pressure field and the surface heat transfer coefficient distribution were obtained by the simulation. The results indicate that nanofluids can evidently enhance the engine heat transfer capability, and the enhancement becomes increasing while increasing the concentration of nano-particles. The engine pump work of cooling system will also increase. It is acceptable since a remarkable enhancement on heat transfer is realized.
