Abstract:Combustion chamber components (i.e. cylinder head, cylinder liner, piston assembly, oil film) were treated as a coupled body. Based on the three-dimensional numerical simulation of heat transfer of the coupled body, a coupled calculation model for in-cylinder working process and the combustion chamber components was built up using domain decomposition and boundary coupling method to implement the coupled simulation of in-cylinder working process and the combustion chamber components. The model was applied to investigate the influence of the time non-uniformity in heat transfer among combustion chamber components on engine performance. The results show that it has little effect on engine power, fuel economy and emissions for normal metal built diesel engine, and it has certain effect on its heat transfer performance, however its amplitude is less than 1%. The time non-uniformity of surface temperature distribution may be ignored in the quasi-dimensional simulation of whole engine performance.
