摘要:numerical simulation method has been employed to study the use of nanofluids for cooling of an internal combustion engine. The heat transfer enhancement due to nanofluids has been studied from two aspects; the flow and heat transfer in the cooling system and the heat transfer between the sliding-contact components of the combustion chamber (e.g., piston rings and cylinder liner). The results showed that the application of nanofluids significantly enhanced the heat transfer, and the effect was larger with an increasing concentration of nanoparticles. The pumping power of the cooling system was increased by the use of nanofluids, but this can be accepted by considering the enhanced heat transfer. The heat transfer between the piston rings and cylinder liner, and the cooling of the piston and cooling jacket were improved by adding nanoparticles to the lubrication. Meanwhile, Cu-oil nanofluids also showed potential for improving the lubrication itself.
