Abstract:The mechanical analysis of biomodular structures presents strong nonlinearity. The numerical stability of the analysis depends on the solution strategy. In this paper, the dynamic analysis is implemented based on the parametric variational principle. The nonlinear dynamic problem is transformed into a complementarity problem, and the parametric quadratic-programming method combined with the modified Newmark's scheme is employed to solve this problem. As a special application of the biomodular dynamic analysis, wrinkling analysis of membranes is also implemented by using the idea of material modification. Numerical examples demonstrate the validity of the proposed method, including the wrinkling-region prediction of membranes based on the bilinear constitutive model.
