Abstract:The hydrodynamic performance of a land-based Oscillating Water Column (OWC) device is experimentally studied. The measured data under the circular-shaped opening are compared well with the published numerical model results by Ning et al. (2015). The effects of the opening shape on the free surface elevation at the chamber center, the air pressure in the chamber, the hydrodynamic efficiency, and the dynamic pressure on the front wall are investigated. It is found that there exists three-dimensional effect in the OWC device operation; however, the effects are limited.
