Abstract:Wave group evolution on a plane beach with slope of 1:100 is investigated in this paper. It is physically modeled in a wave flume and numerically simulated applying the improved Boussinesq equations. Good agreement has been obtained between the experimental and numerical results. Both the observations and numerical solutions indicate that the stability of wave groups depends on the mean primary frequency and frequency difference as well as the amplitude. Transfer functions based on the improved Boussinesq equations for second order bound sub- and super-harmonics are derived and the decomposition is performed.
