Abstract: Frequency upconversion fluorescence emissions were experimentally investigated under infrared excitation at 976 nm. Visible emissions centered at 525, 543, and 660 nm, corresponding to2H11/2 ?I15/2,4S3/2 ?I15/2, and4F9/2 ?I15/2transitions of Er3+ions, respectively, are simultaneously observed in Yb3+/Er3+co-doped silicate glass at room temperature. The upconversion mechanisms and power dependence were presented. The quadratic dependences of the green and red emissions on excitation power reveal that biphotonic processes occur.
