Abstract: An inexpensive and relatively nontoxic Fe/CuBr2-catalyzed benzylation of arenes and thiophenes with benzyl alcohols has been developed. The reaction can be carried out under mild conditions to afford diarylmethane derivatives in high yields and good selectivity.
