Abstract:The photocatalytic decomposition of Reactive Bright Orange (KGN) with polyoxometale, phosphotungstic acid (PTA) and titanium dioxide (TiO 2), was investigated in an aqueous solution with a 253.7nm, 20W UV lamp. The photocatalytic degradation organic product of KGN was analyzed with HPLC. Photocatalytic degradation anion product of KGN was analyzed with UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The results revealed that the photocatalytic degradation organic product of KGN with PTA and TiO2 in a homogenous aqueous solution was different after 2 hours of irradiation. But for anion product of KGN was nearly same with the above two different catalysts, NH4 +, NO3- and Cl-were detected soon after the photocatalytic reaction, except SO42- which was not detected in PTA reaction system, while it was detected in the TiO 2 reaction system after 10 hours of irradiation. The photocatalytic degradation mechanism of KGN with PTA and TiO2 maybe different. ? 2011 IEEE.
