Abstract:The degradation of phenol by active species sprayed in a surface corona discharge system which high electrode was spiral stainless stain wire and grounding electrode was treating wastewater, was investigated in this paper. The experimental parameters chosen were type of bubbling gas, pH, initial concentration of the solution and frequency of power supply. The obtained results showed that the degradation of phenol was much more efficient with oxygen than air. The effect of degradation increased while energy efficiency decreased with the increasing initial concentration. Alkaline condition and high frequency were both benefic for degradation.
