Abstract: In most cases, hydraulic jumps occur in the transition regime from supercritical flow to subcritical flow. Hydraulic jumps have been widely used for energy dissipation in hydraulic constructions. Therefore, a number of researchers have paid their attention to them for a long time. By use of the property of the momentum equation describing the hydraulic jump and the methods solving the quartic and cubic equations, the explicit solutions of the sequent depth ratio for the hydraulic jump in trapezoidal and triangular channels are given.
