Abstract: Aimed at Discrete Manufacturing Industry's characteristics, the function modules of its Manufacturing Execution System (MES) are classified, and corresponding Agent modules are built. A Multi - Agent - based MES structure of Discrete Manufacturing Industry is proposed. Moreover, researches are made on the circulating mechanism of each agent and the communication among Multi - Agents. Especially Strategy Agent is constructed to cooperate with Schedule Agent so as to realize logical and real - time scheduling. Such structure is made for managing and controlling the Discrete Manufacturing Industry MES (DMI - MES), and has integration, expansibility and reconfigurability.
