A model of disruption management for solving machine disruption in single machine scheduling

Abstract:This paper focuses on the problem of revising a single machine schedule when a machine disruption occurs after a subset of jobs has been processed. Based on disruption management, a model-based procedure to effectively manage the disruption is provided so as not to cause too much customer unsatisfaction. This model measured disruptions from the following three aspects: the tardiness jobs, the customer satisfaction and the total completion time. An improved ant colony optimization is adopted to solve the model. Finally, the effectiveness of this method is validated by providing a case study. ? 2012 ISSN 1881-803X.
