Abstract:Many information retrieval systems choose one index for accessing the records, even though many indexes may exist in the systems. In spite of the fact that there are some systems which use multiple indexes, very little has been published about the index control (e.g., deciding how many indexes to use) of using multiple indexes. This paper proposed an application-oriented dynamic index pool model. Techniques of query feedback and index evaluation are presented for optimizing the indexing structure. With the process of index reconstruction, we can make the information retrieval system more intelligent and improve the efficiency continually. Experiment has proved that the proposed index pool model can effectively improve the efficiency of information retrieval system.
