Evaluation of thickness for NiCrAlY coatings sprayed on the superalloy by using ultrasonic spectral analysis

摘要：The thickness of NiCrAlY coating sprayed on the superalloy was evaluated by using the ultrasonic testing method. The pulse from a wide-band transducer was transmitted into the NiCrAlY coated sample on an X-Y controlled stage and ultrasonic power spectra were obtained with fast-Fourier transform (FFT). There was an available relativity between the thickness of NiCrAlY coatings sprayed on the superalloy and the frequency interval of periodic maximum value of power spectrum, which could be explained with the interference phenomenon. This method was proved successfully to evaluate the thickness of thin layer, even dimensions of interest are smaller than that of ultrasonic wavelength.
