Abstract: Human capital is one of the key factors which influence the enterprise innovation performance. Lots of researches argue that human capital investment and the enterprise innovation performance are positive linear, while ignoring the negative effects by too much human capital investment. This paper explores the relationship between human capital investment and the enterprise innovation performance by empirical analysis. The samples include 376 SMEs from Liaoning Province which construct a technology innovation centre. It's found that there is a threshold between human capital investment and the enterprise innovation performance and increasing human capital investment will not necessarily improve the enterprise innovation performance.
