Abstract:In this paper, the role of surfactant on swell potential and strength of expansive soils is investigated by unconfined compressive strength experiment and swell potential experiment. The results indicate that surfactant is effective to reduce the swell potential of expansive soils and that the stabilizers composed of lime and surfactant can enhance strength and reduce swell potential of the expansive soil significantly.
