Abstract: The effect of thermionic emission on dust-acoustic solitons of very small but finite amplitude in dusty plasmas is studied taking into account the self-consistent variation of the dust charge. It is shown that thermionic emission can significantly lower the amplitude of the dust negative charge and can even make the dust charge positive. Results on the dependence of the phase velocity, amplitude and width of solitons on the dust temperature and the work function of dust material were obtained and are discussed here.
