Abstract:Pb0.04Co(CP) catalyst prepared by coprecipitation method was investigated for N2O decomposition. It was found that the introduction of Pb into the catalyst greatly decreased the average size of Co3O4 crystallites, increased surface area, and active sites in population on the catalyst. The doping of Co3O4 with Pb also significantly weakened the Co -0 bond, which led to the activation energy decreasing, from 74.0 kJ mol(-1) to 28.9 kJ mol(-1) and TOF of the reaction at 300 degrees C increasing from 3.1 x 10(-3) s(-1) to 23.1 x 10(-3) s(-1). For the reaction over Pb0.04Co(CP) in the presence of 5 vol% O-2, 2 vol% H2O, 500 ppmv NO, 10 vol% CO2, 50 ppmv SO2, or some of them, the largest dynamic impact was caused from the NO together with the O-2, which led to a decrease of N2O conversion from 100% to 40% at 350 degrees C and 20000 h(-1). Whereas, CO2 had almost no influence on the reaction for the Pb0.04Co(CP) catalyst at the reaction conditions. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
