Abstract: The amount of IoT data is growing in recent years, as a result, the requirement of the throughput becomes crucial for IoT. The backpressure routing strategy can effectively serve this requirement. However, when urgent events or situations happen, The real-time performance of emergency packets cannot be guaranteed under backpressure queueing model. To address this problem, this paper proposes an event-aware backpressure queueing model for EIoT. We analyze the arrival process of different kinds of packets and design a back pressure queueing model with emergency packets. Comparing with traditional backpressure queueing model and LIFO based backpressure queueing model, our proposed method can significantly reduce the average end-to-end delay and increase the delivery ratio of emergency packets.
