Abstract:With the macroeconomic data of Economic and Technological Development Zones of China, the paper analyzes how governance relationships within the Global production network (GPN) influence the opportunities and types of industrial upgrading of the GPN members. The result suggests that integrating into the GPN facilitates Chinese indigenous suppliers' process and product upgrading and gradually enhances the local embeddedness of GPN, while the prospects of functional upgrading of Chinese indigenous suppliers are not clear.
