Abstract: We report here a newly synthesized ratiometric fluorescent sensor for Cd2+, which can work under physiological pH range (HEPES, pH = 7.2) and was not influenced by high concentration of the physiologically abundant anion, including Na+, K+, Ca2+, and Mg2+. Furthermore, the emission wavelength of the senor was blue shifted 44 nm by Cd2+. On the contrary, the emission wavelength was red shifted 27 nm by Zn2+. The fluorescent titration with Cd2+ in the presence of some other heavy and transition metals shows that this chemosensor has higher selectivity to Cd2+ over Zn2+, Fe3+, Hg2+, Ni2+, Pb2+ and Ag+.
