Abstract: An iterative interpolation algorithm is applied in a snow/ice thermodynamic model. The model is forced by in situ observations from weather stations and field campaigns. The observed Arctic lake snow/ice surface temperature and Antarctic sea ice inner temperature were collected to validate the model results. The utilization of iterative algorithm indicated that ice model can provide results with better agreement compare to observations. The simulated lake snow/ice surface temperature by iterative interpolation algorithm produced smaller bias than those yielded by the traditional algorithm during the whole winter. In the simulation of ice inner temperature, the iterative interpolation algorithm with uneven spatial gird size showed good temperature profiles compare with observations.
