Abstract:To investigate the effects of double droplet impact on the dynamic deformation of liquid films, the cou?pled level set and volume of fluid ( CLSVOF) method was applied to simulate the evolution of double droplets after simultaneously impacting a flat liquid film. The evolution process was recorded at different horizontal distances be?tween the droplets and different impact velocities. By analyzing the pressure field distribution at different moments, effects of the horizontal distance, Weber number, and impact velocity on the flow process, shape, spray height, and center jet height of the double droplets were studied. The results show that:the center jet height is larger when the impact velocity is greater;secondary droplets emerge at the top of the center jet when the Weber number is lar?ger;the horizontal distance between the two droplets has no obvious effect on the initial spray height on both sides of the impact spot at the initial period ( before 3 ms) .
