Abstract: A new type of electrolyte with a sulfide/polysulfide redox couple and I- was prepared as a solvent-free ionic liquid for application in dye-sensitized solar cells, reaching efficiencies of 5.2-6.4% under AM 1.5G, 100 mW cm(-2) light illumination, and 6.6% efficiency was obtained under 0.1 sun irradiation.
