Abstract:In this paper, we report the investigation of Ti/Fe bimetallic plates welded with Cu-V filler. The microstructures and mechanical properties of individual phase were examined using combined microstructural analysis and nanoindentation test. Bending test was conducted to understand the overall mechanical behavior of the joint. The metallurgical reactions and evolution of phase composition during the welding process were discussed. It is interesting to note that the crack nucleation and propagation in different phases depend not only on the size and distribution of brittle intermetallics but the morphology of ductile phases.
