Abstract:Characteristics of domestic and international test rig for vertical axis marine current turbine were analyzed, vertical axis marine current turbine best rig was designed, assembled and commissioned, and blade preset attack angle, ti Pspeed ratio and blade arm experiments were carried out. The test rig can achieve the functionality as: maximum flow rate 8 m/s, measurement and control system power 5.5 kW, turbine maximum rotating speed 150 r/min; also hydrodynamic test of tip speed ratio, airfoil, turbine compaction, suspension disc, and dynamics test are supported in the designed rig. In the meantime, monitoring and control system which has four main functions at loaded, power generation, measurement, energy dissipation at the same time, overcomes turbines measurement errors lead by power consumption of gearbox and motor, greatly expanding the functionality and applications of this test rig. The test results shown that maximum energy capture efficiency of the designed turbine is 35%, influence of blade arm on turbine efficiency increases with increasing the tip speed ratio. The research work is a good reference for current turbine design and the research data are the supply for the comprehensive development and utilization of the tidal current energy.
