Abstract: A Ti70.3Ni22.2Al7.5 alloy, optimized from a basic binary eutectic Ti76Ni24 alloyed with different amounts of Al, was laser-clad on AZ91HP magnesium alloy. The coating mainly consists of beta-Ti solid solution and Ti2Ni intermetallic compound resulting in high hardness, good wear resistance and corrosion resistance. The interface between the clad layer and the substrate has a good metallurgical bonding. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
