Abstract: The main property of wireless sensor networks is limited resource, especially energy. To solve this problem, RCHR (regional clustering hierarchical routing algorithm), a regional-centralized cluster formation algorithm for routing algorithm is proposed. The centralized algorithm will be used at the beginning to overcome the defect that the clusters distribute unevenly. After this round, a regional centralized algorithm will be implemented. The non-cluster-head node sends information about location and energy to the cluster-head node in a cluster. Upon receiving the information, the cluster-head run a dummy center algorithm to select a new cluster-head and a spare cluster-head in the next round so that the node no longer sends information to the sink node directly each round, thus the costs will be decreased. The cluster-heads run hierarchical based algorithm to create a path through to the sink node. The results indicate clearly that RCHR outperforms LEACH in energy conservation and network lifetime extension.
